• the right kinda jazz shit here
• HARE KRSNA !!!
• I like the humble of music ^^
• If you've never heard Divine Songs but want to dig deeper into Alice's sound, check it out streaming in full at http://optimisticunderground.wordpress.com/2014/10/07/alice-coltrane-divine-songs/ really lush stuff that's only been released on cassette as far as I know.
• Her music is so humble and powerful, she uses instruments as extensions of her own soul and expression, Transfiguration is so damn raw yet fragile. You are amazing Alice.
• @RusselChap But I love Laraaji, haha
• If you like Alice Coltrane's more meditative moments I'd suggest you check out [artist]Laraaji[/artist]
• Prema (especially as played on McPartland's show) is so beautiful I could cry.
• @althefknamsrtkn But no one seriously into jazz cares what hipsters think, so that's irrelevant. What is relevant is that comparing the two is ridiculous and beside the point.
• Joyful
• Turiya Sings!
• Althefknamsrtkn - Neither of them are better than each other as they are both of unique, individualistic, exploratory expressions. Loving music for the sake of music and art.
• I forgot how amazing her music is! Shame on me. I should have spent more of my listening hours on here. I need to make up for lost time.
• god what a goddess. Divine Songs, you doubled my love for Alice.
• Blue Nile, oh my.
• People always look at me crazy when I tell them I prefer Alice to her husband (not that John was brilliant as well).
• oh alice!! gracious gracious alice.
• love the tanpura on Journey in Satchidananda
• a magic spell
• Spotify playlist Jazz: Bebop, Cool, Swing, Vocal, Fusion, Modal, Stride, Dixieland, Third Stream, Big Band, Hard Bop
• If you vary Alice Coltrane with Pharaoh Sanders and Sun Ra with a touch of any John Coltrane, you can see where all the later Jazz fusion came from in the 70's. You have to ride the spontaneity of the music or else you'll never appreciate it.
• Pure magic, indeed.
• Fantastic SPIRITUAL JAZZ !!!
• Pure magic.
• total brilliance
• This jazz goddess has floored me!
• it has to be more than 10 years now last time i was listening to her...i remembered her to be...more free? like ascension. or stellar regions. perhaps i'm listening to the wrong record now. it's fairly pleasant though.
• She sure was one great woman!
• dat harp
• Then your expectations were misguided. Try it again without any? Or another Alice album like Ptah or Transcendence?
• Sometimes i wonder if i'm listening to the same albums as everyone else. Journey in Satchidananda didn't match my expectations.
• Beauty.
• turiya sings is such an underrated release
• Cosmic harp music
• V lucky duck!
• I'm so glad I got to see her play live in the late 90s before she passed away. It was an epic night! What an inspirational, visionary composer!
• :D [2]
• Check out my cover of Alice Coltrane's track Blue Nile from the album Ptah The El Daoud on Impulse Records: http://soundcloud.com/matthewhalsall/blue-nile
• MAN THOSE FUCKING BASS LINES.
• Just came across this... No wonder John maried her, that's pure gold.
• seriously adoring her music right now -- and i have so much of it left to get through :D
• Andromeda's Suffering <3
