Biography
Alibi tom delivers vibrant harmonies, strong playful melodies and sweet hooks. There is a definite willingness to experiment and a refreshing honesty in the lyrics. At times you can hear that archetypal Swedish melancholy countered by an affirming warmth. Good old organic musicianship meets unrestrained relentless, electrical energy. Originating from Classical, Brit Pop and progressive backgrounds, combined there is a broad musical awareness in the band.
The first seeds of the band known today as ALIBI TOM were sown five years ago with cousins Markus and Erik reflecting over starting up a band. Together with old school friend Martin, brought along to play the bass, and Joel (Markus’s brother) taking the roll as the lead singer a band took shape under the name ‘out of clouds’. It was later to change to its current name.
Alibi tom has a good history of playing and touring. After two years (2004-2006) of nearly 60 shows in Sweden and Holland, a lot of interest was shown in ‘Like a lily’. It became a hit on several important mp3 blogs. The band website was frequently visited to download the songs, to the extent it had to be shut down. Talks with the uk label ‘Leon’ started in late 2006, resulting in the cooperation of the recordings of the album.
The coming album is their first full length album. It is due to be released in the UK in april 2008.
