About this album

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows − Part 1 is a motion picture soundtrack to the 2010 film of the same name, written and conducted by the French film composer Alexandre Desplat. The soundtrack was nominated for the 2010 IFMCA Award for Best Original Score for a Fantasy Film and the 2010 Satellite Award for Best Original Score.

The reception for the soundtrack of Part 1 was overall positive. The first review of the soundtrack was released on 31 October 2010 by Jonathan Broxton, who rated the score 5/5, saying that “This score is one of Desplat’s greatest achievements and highlights everything I love about his work; the orchestral textures, the intricate use of unexpected instruments in unexpected settings, the crystal clarity of his orchestrations.”

    Wow really great, never been a huge Desplat fan, but this is close to being the best Harry Potter score so far... and we don't have many to go :) But it is very much its own, and still being deeply rooted in the Potter univers. Love it!!

    damn good music so far, different from the others but great atmosphere, some songs remind me a bit of the Elder Scrolls: Oblivion soundtrack

    I just got the album from one of the best Rupert Grint fansite! Very thankful for that. Desplat made amazing music for the best franchise ever made! :)
