Biography

Genesis

Alex Anthony Dean was born on a sunny spring evening in may 1987. His parents were proud their beautiful baby boy and were the talk of the town. They quickly realised their boy was very, very special.

He started at Goring First aged 4 and quickly rose to the top of his class, also shining in the School Football team, acclaimed as one of the star right backs in the under 6’s league. After getting top grades in all his classes he cruised into West Park and was THE kid to know. Guys wanted to be him, girls wanted to be with him (including several of his tutors!)

The Old Testament

When he started attending Durrington High things took a MASSIVE turn for the worse. cronic acne crushed his confidence, having to turn to unorthodox, untested remedies. Once the star of the school team with accolades such “players player of the year” and “Managers player of the year” under his belt, a shadow of the player he once was. Retreating to the sidelines suffering from a devastating case of Osgood-Schlatter Disease. It seemed as if the child who had seemed so special, was infact a pathetic failure.

This was however, simply just a new chapter in Alex Anthony Dean’s journey. In these dark times, Ali found solace in his music. He was turned on to Punk Rock by one of his (few) school friends. He picked up his first guitar, a wonderful Fender Strat ran through his squire 10 watt combo, in 1999 at the tender age of 12. His love for artists like Blink 182 and Nirvana blossemed. by the age of 15 he was snapped up by local Punk Rock outfit ‘Jessies Mum’. However Ali quickly outgrew the band as his ability spiraled. It wasn’t until 2005 that his talents were realised once again when he formed the hugely influential worthing supergroup ‘Fractures’. Whilst ‘Fractures’ was a very special project that Alex heald close to his heart, one day something happened that would change his life forever…

The New Testament

In September 2005, Tom Searle (one of his heroes!), Dan Searle, Timothy Hillar-Brook and Matt Johnson asked him to join one of his favourite UK HxC bands ‘Architects’. This was an is, to this day the happiest day of his life. He had no choice but to leave his beloved ‘Fractures’. Joining the band before they departed for their first UK tour with Mancunian Rockers ‘Beecher’. He took to the bass like a duck to water. Quickly becoming known as one of the countries best looking bassists. In March 2007 Alex recorded his first record with ‘Architects’. A milestone for the now 21 year old bahemoth.

Now having recorded his career defining record ‘Hollow Crown’ in July and having conquered America in October 2008, Alex is a more powerful and compelling character than ever before. His band mates (specifically Tom) becoming more like family than friends.

Fast forward to November 2008 and Ali is happier than ever, and looking to the future.

Maybe Ali hasn’t had the easist ride, maybe he didn’t do it by the ‘rules’, but hey, did it bother him? Not on this evidence. We all know theres a lot more to come from this special, unique, wonderful character…
