Dear Matthew, I like you a lot
I realize you're in a relationship with someone right now
And I respect that
I'd like you to know that if you're ever single in the future

I've been almost every one of these men to one woman or another at some point in my life, from being the one breaking hearts to being the one that just "treated her too well"

Madonna Queen of commercial pop, Bjork of underground one, Tori Amos best melody-maker, BUT Alanis the best lyrics writer I ever know. This song pure beauty & very poignant

The truth is whenever I think of the 90s this song comes up with a vengeance like it was yesterday.

@GuiN30: I completely agree. The lack of a chorus is the best part of this song. If you wanna nitpick though, "Dear" could be the chorus.
