It's a fucking good album. Not perfect of course, but much better than others... Alanis do it better.

It's been almost two years and I still don't like this album. I like some songs though, namely Woman Down, Receive and Edge of Evolution, but that's it. As a whole, this is a very disappointing record :(

Tagged as "dance"...? I guess Woman Down could be considered slightly dance-y, but surely the rest is not?!

I have had this album for about a year now so I've had more than enough time to reflect on it. What it all comes down to is that I really, really enjoy listening to this album. Some tracks were huge growers, namely Lens, Receive and Edge of Evolution. Some were "lighter" growers, such as Win and Win, which I used to see as very boring, especially the chorus, but now I find it quite pleasant to listen to. Numb and Havoc were "lighter" growers too. The remaining songs were more instant, especially Spiral and Empathy, which are so damn catchy! I feel at times it's just a little bit grey musically, it's kinda hard to explain. But I always enjoy it, it's quite addictive.

Edge of Evolution is the only great song on HABL.
