This trio toured Sanfransisco, India and more together. It Consists of John Mclaughlin, a member of the supergroup, Mahavishnu Orchestra, Paco De Lucia who toured solo for a long while and had many works independently creating and recording his own material which was highly influenced by Latin Flamenco music and the one and only Al Di Meola, who toured with the supergroup known as Return To Forever who has toured at a big festival location near Baltimore called Merriweather Post Pavilion. The three collaborated to create an acoustic Jazz Fusion. People they have played with include Jaco Pastorious, Miles Davis, Shakti, many Indian artists including one I personally met and saw in Sanfransisco. Songs by Al Di meola include song to the Pharough Kings, La Estiba, The Mirage, Return of the Jester. I would find it safe to say they were influenced by Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd of the 60's. Return To Forever put out the album "The Anthology" and have now collaborated with wondrous sensations like Hiromi Uehera. They are also influenced by new age artists like Lorenna Mckennitt, and more. Their guitar techniques include fast finger plucking in the Flamenco variety. Their music is highly spiritual and emotional and all 3 members have been 'going' since the 1960's and are still touring to this day. They released two live studio albums together which are most recent as a trio! With Dissonant transitions and other times of harmony ( Switching back and forth ) between beauty and dissonance they maintain to keep up with each other. Albums by Mahavishnu Orchestra include The Inner Mounting Flame, their signature album with you know you know, and the meeting of the spirits, Visions of the Emerald beyond which features two great songs, on the way home to earth and funk. Between Nothing and Eternity had just 3 songs, which were all extraordinary, and the special album that can be found on Vinyl released in 2000, Birds of Fire ( the title track ) which has a yellow and pink cover. In 1999 they came out with "Live in sanfransisco". The Band / group is signed to Columbia records and I am sure has many more connections. They are very successful and are a wonderful addition to our world of music. *Review submitted by Jordan Saks of Consensus Down
