Akeboshi Yoshio (明星嘉男), known by his stage name, Akeboshi, is a Japanese folk singer-songwriter and composer.

Akeboshi was born on July, 1, 1978 in Yokohama. He learned to play the piano when he was three years old, later learning to play the guitar. He studied music in Liverpool, and his time there has heavily influenced his music. Before his major debut, he produced two of the songs on Matsu Takako’s fourth album, a piece of life.

Akeboshi’s songs are mainly sung in Japanese, but there are some notable songs that are sung in English, such as “Night and day”, “Money”, and “Wind”. Akeboshi rarely uses the basic 4/4 time signature. “Wind” and “神様の舌打ち” (Kamisama no Shitauchi) for example, are both written in 5/8.

He is popularly known for the two songs that were used as ending themes in the NARUTO anime: “wind” (as in wind a clock), and “Yellow Moon”.

Love how the first track, "Usual life", is a commentary on how the Fukushima incident is "under control". It totally isn't. And many Japanese people know/understand this. Based on his photos, he or his family has a big farm (maybe in Fukushima), and farmers are the most aware of how the situation is *not* under control.

@soushokukeiDino Did you notice that two of these are full songs based on the short, 30-second tracks he wrote for the Findays app? "Beat The Snow" is based on "Longing For Your Footstep Noise" and "Tiny Rainbow" is based on "After The Rainclouds Go". I remember saying when I first heard those that it'd be good to hear them made into full songs for the next album. Didn't expect it to actually happen!

Today I reached 80.000 scrobblings on and 10.000 Akeboshi's songs. The 10k song was Seeds, one of his sweetest sounds. I want to celebrate listening to his new songs from his soundcloud :-D

He's still working on the mixing and mastering, according to his posts. It's all done by him. I can't wait for this album, I'm sure it's going to be his most personal effort yet. This is is first album written after the birth of his son, even. Messed up mind is very obviously written about his son, and I just cry tears when I hear it.

Surprised that Mienai Kabe didn't make it on the album.

    7. "The Cloudy Night Sky". 9. is a little difficult to put in English. The meaning rather than the translation is like "In a dream, within a dream". So excited for new music.

Hey psycho0f0x, I tried to access the dropbox link you posted, but the page tells me it is not available anymore. Would it be possible to make the page available again by any chance? I'm so very excited for the release of his new album!

First peek at the album cover art can be seen here: Seems to be heavily based on the Start Forming The Words artwork. This may not be the final artwork, though.

I believe track 7 roughly translates to something like "Dark Clouds in the Night Sky", and track 9 is something like "In A Crazy Dream". I'm relying on online translation tools for that so please feel free to correct me if you have a better grasp of Japanese than me.
