Ajda Pekkan (born 12 February 1946) is a Turkish singer whose career spans over more than four decades. She is known as “superstar” in Turkey and got this title by her album named SUPERSTAR which was released in 1978. After a short movie career she started singing and she has been at the center of the Turkish musical scene since 1965. A star of both stage and screen, Pekkan’s repertoire extends well beyond Turkish folk and popular music to embrace styles such as French chanson. It made her the first Turkish singer ever to perform in Olympia, Paris, France in 1976. In the course of her career, Pekkan has received countless honors, and toured internationally. 1980 marked her participation in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song ‘Pet’roil’. Her albums were released in Japan, Spain, Greece, Germany, France, Israel and Italy. Her album “Cool Kadın” was released in June, 2006 and hit a huge success again… This was her first official album after 10 years. In 2008 Ajda’s album “Aynen Öyle” including hits like “Aynen Öyle” “Flu Gibi” “Can Gidiyor” and “Stretch” was one of the most populer albums of the year. Following year, 2009, Ajda Pekkan made a single named “Resim” written and composed by Serdar Ortaç and that was a real hit of summer. Ajda Pekkan’s all concerts were sold out this summer around the Turkey and now fans expect a new studio album soon.
