Airport City Shuffle started in 2001 after Simon created his first home made album on an old 4-track cassette recorder. The tape was released to friends under the name Airport City Shuffle. The groups name is a play on words, the inspiration came after seeing an airport city shuttle bus drive past. Simon went on to make several carefully hand crafted releases, selling them in local stores and passing them onto friends before putting a band together and performing the live for the first time during March 2002.
During 2002 Airport City Shuffle recorded their first relatively hi-fi album ‘Death of Robot’ using a couple of 8 track recorders. Seven of the tracks were recorded by Simon and the other six by Adem K, the singer/songwriter from Turnstyle and Burton Cool Suit.
During 2006 Love Is My Velocity released a split 7 inch vinyl single which featured an Airport City Shuffle live favourite It’s All the Same to Me, the single was then picked up by Nokia who released it online through their Nokia Music Recommenders site. Most of Airport City Shuffle’s material has been released independently through Simon’s own label Ephemeral Music Records.
