Biography

Ad·am Dal·ton n: (ˈa-dəm) (ˈdȯl-tən) A musician infatuated with folk, blues, jazz & old time rock, country and soul music.

Fresh off the heels of his debut solo release, SELF-LOATHING BLUES, Adam Dalton is ready to bring his rollicking blues-rock to a watering hole near you.

Born and raised south of Boston, Dalton cut his teeth fronting a classic rock cover band and soaking up Neil Young records before majoring in music performance at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. There he formed and fronted the original folk rock group A Dream That Can Last who toured throughout the Northeast. In 2006, they released an independent record, opened for national act Stroke 9 and held residencies at Lowell’s historic Worthen and Courtyard Bar Houses.

In 2007 a gig at Blackbird Studio brought him south to Nashville. Upon setting down his guitar case in Music City, Dalton performed as a utility musician for aspiring country artists while writing and recording what would become SELF-LOATHING BLUES. The record covers all of Dalton’s musical muses; folk, rock, jazz, and soul all underscored by classic blues. “Being in Nashville has been a great opportunity to soak up the timeworn southern sounds and study the architects of rock and soul music. There is such a rich musical history here.” Says Dalton. From the country leaning “Too Late” to the fat electric piano groove of “Won’t Stand”, SELF-LOATHING BLUES is certainly more than just that.
