1 Jan 2011, 12:42 by Babs_05The idea is for a journal for every month listing new albums I listen to and what I think so that when I review the year's music in December, I will have a handy reminder. I will add to this as the month goes on. Suggestions welcome.

8 Feb 2009, 23:16 by eaglehearttBelow are the top twenty albums of 2008: no compilations, best of's, or EPs. Yeah, it's about a month late. But, in my defense, it was a really busy year and i had several tough choices to make. After the top two or three, the rankings don't really matter very much. And before you ask, For Emma, Forever Ago was 2007.
20. Colour Haze - All
Taking much of their inspiration from Sabbath, Hendrix and krautrock, German power trio Colour Haze have been blazing a trail of stoner rock for nearly 15 years. Elephantine riffs and rolling rhythms mutating over long stretches of time, All is at times cliched but nevertheless a fuzzed-out, swirling ride of meditative jams and psychedelic bliss.
19. The Wave Pictures - Instant Coffee Baby
Wonderful, sincere lyrics perfectly capturing everyday events and emotions and a quirky, unforgettable voice falling somewhere between Davy Henderson and Finn Andrews…
20 Jan 2009, 05:17 by Mozo782008 was another great year for music, and once again last.fm and all my music-loving friends introduced me to many memorable recordings. While few 2008 recordings grabbed and held my attention like last year's favorites (Andrew Bird, feist, and The National), there was a plentiful variety of quality albums that I've grown to appreciate over frequent listenings. From old stalwarts (Al Green, Bob Dylan, R.E.M., Aimee Mann, and Eno/Byrne (!)) to post-millennial faves ( Sigur Ros, Adem, Calexico, and Mates of State) to brand new discoveries (Lechner & Tsabropoulos, Jacaszek, Fredrik, Santogold, and 22-year old wunderkid Peter Broderick), this past year provided a collection of musical pleasures that I'll be returning to for a long time.
I plan on posting an addendum with more details on each of these records and the charm I discovered within ... until then, I look forward to hearing your feedback and recommendations on other records I may have missed!
