Chiba, Tokyo, Japan (2006 – present)

AYUSE KOZUE (アユセ・コズエ) , born in Chiba, Japan is a Japanese pop/r&b singer-songwriter on the Toys Factory record label. Ayuse first started when she decided she wanted to be a singer while in junior high, and even joined the dance team, hoping to fulfill that dream. During high school she studied desktop music (MIDIs, etc) through a music course and then bought her first computer. After hearing one of her tracks, Towa Tei jumped on board as her music director and released her debut single, “boyfriend” in April of 2006. She has since released five more singles, all of which she’s had some part in, whether it be writing the lyrics or composing the music. Kozue calls her genre of R&B “Rhythm & Beauty”. She has recently finished university. She was also a VJ for MTV Japan from July to September of 2006. She also has her own podcast on iTunes. On 2007.10.17 Ayuse released her debut album, “A♥K”.

Liking LOL. Certainly not her best, but not bad by any means. Girl should lay off the auto-tone a bit though.

I saw her perform a 4 song set (DANCE WITH U, Cry For You, When I wish upon a star and ONE) today, and met her after. She was really friendly, and her English was great. Told her Apple Pie was my favourite, hah. Here are some photos.

I know what you mean. I hope she does something a bit different for whatever comes next, but I'm happy for now! Especially since she "changed labels" and disappeared for a bit ~

i like her R&B sound as well which is what got me into her the first place but its just that with U&I theres some meh-ness to it. DANCE WITH U, Too Late and Still In Love were the songs i enjoyed the most especially DWU. i hope she doesnt work with GIORGIO again as well as i do miss Ayuse's sound; GIORGIO has produced some good songs but a lot of his stuff sound so similar that it does get somewhat bland pretty quickly

I agree that a majority of the songs all sound similar, but I still enjoy the album nonetheless. Simply Good had a few odd pure "pop" songs thrown around, but I'm glad AYUSE went for a more RnB sound on this album. It suites her IMO

the new album is good but only a few of the songs really stood out to me...i guess i prefer her previous albums more as the songs are more varied, fun and experimental since Ayuse produced it herself. imo U&I has too many songs that sounds very similar to each other -but then again GIORGIO produced it so...-
