  • Totally agree with SimonePerrota, I could have wrote the same comment. I'd choose Midnight Marauders over The Low End Theory anyday.
  • one of the best hip hop albums.
  • still my fave. fuckin' amazing!
  • Their best.
  • Hey, my name is theoctothorp and I spent like seven years in college and while I was there I listened this album like all the time. My neighbors loved me!
  • The correct release date is 9 November 1993.
  • mah drivin shit
  • Better than Low End, imo. Low End is one of the best hip-hop albums of all time, but I think the jazz sound gets kind of repetitive throughout. Whereas, on Marauders, the samples and sounds are fresh and different for each song. Plus, sounds like they are having more fun on here. Also, the Tour Guide beats anything on Low End, hands down. This really says it a lot better than I did.
  • My second favorite hip hop album of all time.
  • no-one's debating that their first two aren't, this is just their most complete and concise for me - for a variety of reasons [2]
  • So tough to choose between Low End and this. Can't do it.
  • Legendary album.
  • Absolutely no doubt my favourite Hip-Hop album <3 <3
  • Perfection . . . .
  • Not that I don't absolutely LOVE Low End... but Midnight edges it for me.
  • no-one's debating that their first two aren't, this is just their most complete and concise for me - for a variety of reasons... the thoughtful interludes anchor the album and whilst the jam-oriented tracks are decidedly laid back and less blatantly thematic than those of TLET, they offer more insight and replay value than any other album of theirs - the more you listen... The whole thing just plays beautifully, kinda like Redman's Muddy Waters... It's a cerebral album in every sense of the word - perfectly crafted beats, smooth and upbeat yet forward-thinking and deep...
  • I respectfully disagree with you guys on "Midnight Marauders" being better than The Low End Theory. Why can't you just say the debut, Low End Theory and this are all classic hip-hop albums? I don't see what's the whole point about which one has more lyrically content about hip-hop/rap, etc. The Tribe Called Quest are very gifted hip-hop/rap group.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only who thinks this is superior to The Low End Theory... Every track is a celebration of hip-hop and how many vibes it can transcend whilst simultaneously covering immense ground lyrically in a sort of thoughtful, rambling manner... Flawless from start to finish...
  • Hands down my favorite hiphop album of ALL TIME... without question
  • no way reasonable doubt was better. jay z is wack.
  • Illmatic was decent (yet grossly overrated and one dimensional). ATLiens was the only *trendsetting* album on your list and still < MM. I don't have anything reasonable to say about the other albums on your list other than, I disagree.
  • "MM is the reason people say hip-hop died in 1994... no one has made a better album since" lmao. First off illmatic > MM. Secondly so many better albums that were released after MM. For example Liquid Swords, ATLiens, Reasonable Doubt, etc.
  • quality that never gets old.
  • I also believe it to be better than Low End Theory. Midnight Marauders is one of the finest start-to-finish hip-hop albums ever written / produced... and it arrived at the pinnacle of golden era hip-hop. This is essentially the Crooked Rain vs Wowee Zowee phenomenon. Both albums fantastic, one is slightly better. MM is the reason people say hip-hop died in 1994... no one has made a better album since.
  • yes. Fucking perfect!!!!
  • better than Low End Theory ??
  • 10/10
  • УУУУУУУУ,,,,,,,, ПИЗДАТО
  • About as good as Low End imo. i.e. fucking incredible.
  • My favorite.
  • one of my all time favorite albums no doubt.
  • in my top 5, love this so much
  • There was a period in my life when I listened to almost nothing but this. Good times, classic album. 10/10.
  • Workmix1 just wanna gain attention, go smoke a rock or something. Apperently you must a fulltime crack head for not liking this record.
  • And what is 'real' hip hop? A Tribe Called Quest does not fit the rap stereotype (just like Guru, The Roots, De La Soul, Jungle Brothers, etc), and that's why they've been a great and influential band.
  • No I'm not stupid. I just like real hip hop. These guys are total posers. If you want to hear real, true, legit hip hop then check this out: http://www.myspace.com/lilant Tribe Called "wack" is more like it
  • @workmix1 are you stupid?
  • Wish this album could sound as ear-gasmic as the 1st time every time.
  • Probably the most overrated record of the 90's. These guys just fully suck.
  • this is amazing. great at night, really nostalgic for me.
  • I grew up listening to this ALBUM... bad -ass album GO Tribe callED Quest.. I GOT HIGH TO ALL YOUR MUSIC.......
  • my favorite album to listen to in the night time
  • I cannot stop listening to this album...it's epic.
  • One of my favourite albums, no doubt. Everytime I listen to it I have a great time!
  • this is my all time favourite hip hop album
  • looooooveee .
  • midnight marauders > low end theory
  • one of the best hip hop albums
  • once i wrote an article about atcq & how the low end theory was one of my fave albums. but it was only bc as a writer i lacked the vocab necessary to put the indescribable dopeness of this album into words. i hate to compare diff albums & concepts, but this is atcq at their best imo
