7% Solution is a psychedelic space-rock band from Texas, One of several bands who were apart of the big contemporary space-rock movement that had a peak at the end of the 20th century. 7% Solution (or Seven Percent Solution) was formed in Austin, Texas in 1992 by Singer, Guitarist Reese Beeman. Releasing the self titled ep cassette the same year. Shortly the next year, guitarist James Adkisson joined Reese releasing the Sugar ep. Within the wake of their debut release, Julian Capps joined the band on vocals/guitar/bass guitar and in November of 1998 7% Solution debuted live. The three became the the five when Mike Sherrill joined on bass and James Harwood on drums for the start of the live tour.

1999 saw 7% Solution released their anticipated second album, Gabriel’s Waltz on the same label. This would also mark the start of 7% Solution’s heavy touring across the United States for the next two years until their demise in 2002.

Presently 7% Solution lives on with some of their respected members being apart of A Five and Dime Ship, and Lacuna Incorporated.

Their first album has to be the closest any band got to emulating the Verve's A Storm In Heaven. By emulating, I mean capturing the passion / creativity / atmosphere, not copying... (I guess more people have this band catalogued under its later spelling, Seven Percent Solution.)

7% Solution (the shoegaze band from Austin, TX) officially changed their name to Seven Percent Solution because the shitty hardcore band 7% Solution on Hydrahead Records threatened to sue them. Regardless, the two pages ought to be merged.

I think the Seven Percent Solution is more accurate. I was under the impression that Flyer Artists used 7%Solution because it was smaller, so they had more room to add other bands. And since the late 90's Psych/space rock scene was all about ripping off flyers from lates 60's era of Fillmore art.

listened to this band for the first time last night and they sure as shit didn't disappoint even though everything i'd read was pretty glowing. allmusic even said it was like jeff buckley singing for mogwai, haha. first album i've heard is "gabriel's waltz" and it was an instant hit for me.

Psychedelic music? 7% Solution? Haha. I am thinking of the Hydrahead records 7% Solution and they are AMAZING. Their song Postal Service is one of my all time favourites. If someone feels the same -- get in touch!

I just received an email after ordering all about spaceships and satellites from the band saying they broke up. Shame, they have such a good sound.
