(NOTE: there is another 1986 on here with super lame music…that is the 1986 from boston that disbanded a couple years ago. Please do not confuse the two. The REAL 1986 has 2 records out. “Nihilism Is Nothing To Worry About” and, the newest, “Everybody Is Whatever I Think They Are”)

The goal was to make independent music loud again.

1986 is the project of Giorgio Angelini and Cully Symington; two musicians you’ve probably already seen or heard if you’ve ever listened to Bishop Allen, The Rosebuds, The Gutter Twins, Cursive, or Okkervil River. Between the hectic touring schedules of these bands, Giorgio and Cully pieced together the record they always wanted to make: Everybody Is Whatever I Think They Are.

Produced by TJ Doherty (Wilco, Joanna Newsom, Steve Malkmus) and featuring guitar work from Jesus Lizard guitarist Duane Denison and Adam Franklin of Swervedriver, listen LOUDLY.

Press from 1986’s previous release, Nihilism Is Nothing To Worry About.

“On their new Nihilism Is Nothing to Worry About, (1986) scramble up Archers of Loaf, Superchunck, Yo La Tengo, and a half-dozen other acts from the golden age of indie-rock guitar into a slacked-out, fuzzy mess with just enough weird angles to keep them from sounding like a tribute act” - Chicago Reader
