The 13th Floor Elevators - The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators

I have no idea what to write about this album. It's psychedelic, yay! One of the first psychedelic rock albums, and probably the first that said it so implicitly in its title. I believe that when you were young in the sixties / seventies, this music must have been quite something, but nowadays it doesn't surprise that much anymore. A slight overdose of psychedelic sounds, I presume. Nowadays, it must be mixed with eastern sounds, african rhythms or heavy electronic beats to be noticed. Times change.

I have nothing against psychedelic music, in contrary, most of the time I like it, but it has a well known recipe. The music should have a very "open" sound (can't translate my Dutch "weids", I'm sorry), there must be some strange instruments, and the singer should have a particular voice (best example: Grace Slick from Jefferson Airplane). …

November 7 I finally got up off of my ass and bought a cassette player/recorder. Only this is not just any cassette player/recorder, it's a boombox that can record from CD AND radio. I bought it and left with about $.30 left in my checking account. Phew, that was a tough week.
