Detroit-based R&B/Soul/Hip-Hop collective Platinum Pied Pipers just released Abundance, the follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2005 debut album. The new album, which includes retro soul tune "On A Cloud," is seemingly more electronica-oriented and vocal-heavy than the previous one and thus showcases their further ability and versatility.
Slim, mostly known as a member of the successful R&B group 112, released his solo debut album last November. Lead single "So Fly" had already become a huge hit and with this full-length album, Slim proves that he's the originator of the soft, smooth vocal style, which is now utilized by a number of today's younger R&B singers.
British superstar Leona Lewis released the deluxe edition of her major debut album, Spirit… -
My Musical Journey
3 Jan 2009, 20:14 by neesh
These albums have shaped me into the wide-ranged aficionado I am today. I grew up in a household with my ma who came to the US from the Caribbean as a young woman in the late 60's (she's a fan of Elvis Presley and the Golden Oldies as well as Hindi/Bollywood tunes in addition to Trinidadian music, Norah Jones and appreciates anyone who's "got pipes on 'em") and two much older siblings. My brother was a house/club DJ so that shit was bumping constantly and is embedded in my brain. My sister was into R&B like Tevin Campbell, Jodeci and whatnot yet also smooth jazz. I was all about solo chick singers, Disney tunes, Show Tunes, Carnival music, salsa, merengue and dance hits from all eras (especially disco and club remixes of pop hits) until the fifth grade when I got my hands on Tragic Kingdom and Razorblade Suitcase. Thus began my foray into alternative rock, interrupted only for a brief moment when I became Bad Boy records obsessed as a tween. I first heard ... … -

I know this is long, as I know I haven't utilized the insertion tools...I'll get to that later...I'm gonna get this off my chest and move on. My next post will be last.fm worthy.
I recently broke up with a long time on and off girlfriend. It was maybe the 7th or 8th time we have broken up, I kinda stopped counting after five. I won't lie, I've been bummed out this week. I haven't been terribly depressed but I know a part of me is missing. It's my fault anyway.....I'm the one who ended the relationship. Why am I bitching?
I shouldn't have started the relationship up. We were always very close friends and that never works out. There was never any get-to-know, relaxing, have fun time. It was serious from the get-go which put a strain on things between us. Not to mention her parents always talking about her settling down...she maybe ready but I'm only 23. Yes, I know people!!! Your saying "this is the time to get married" BULLSHIT!!?!?!? lol. …
