greenbelt festival 2008/ my last three months listening
27 Aug 2008, 10:16 by stevethack
Fri 22 Aug – Greenbelt Festival 2008
having listened to many of the bands playing this years greenbelt fest the plan is to post my last three month chart here (given when i was away this actually covers the full 11 weeks from me returning from the greenbelt iona retreat to my arrival at the festival) then slowly edit it with comments about the bands that did play the fest. prob a big job so count this journal entry as a work in progress.
1 Levellers 119(no link to greenbelt, well Seth lakeman's brother Sean produced their new album and i can find half a dozen other tenuous links)
2 Michael Franti & Spearhead 82
headlined friday night, wow. maybe not as impressive as when he played two years back and so far i do think i prefer Yell fire to his new album.
2 Duke Special 82
ok joint second for the duke, not at the festival this year but has been most years (once we get out of my top ten i'll delete the bands who weren't on the gb08 line up)
4 Rachel Taylor-Beales 77

Criticize Your Top 25
5 Apr 2008, 13:19 by Angel_Katie
"The hardest thing for a die-hard music fan to do is to mercilessly point out their favorite band's faults. It kills me to do this, but do you care? I didn't think so!" - Thatkidsam
1) Coheed and Cambria - I do love them. If I didn't, they wouldn't be my number 1 artist. One thing that I love about them is the fact that their music is not superficial, there is a complex and deep story behind every song, indeed their whole career. I don't understand the story. And so it makes it hard for me sometimes to understand exactly what it is Claudio means. I want to understand what that beautiful voice is so passionate about, but I just can't get my head around it all. Oh, and at their Melbourne concert, over-indulgence much? The drum solo was 10 minutes long! I was in awe for the first 3 minutes, the next 4 I spent dying for the others to come back out, the last 3 I was just ready to snap those damn drum sticks! lol
2) Tommy Lee - Ugh! The song Good Times! How can he be connected to Motley Crue… -

In no Apparent Order Purchased Album Will Have Some Comments in italics:
I will not review the albums in great detail, since every art is perceived so differently. I recommend you listen to the music on youtube (or last.fm its amazing what you can gout of 30 seconds) to see if you like it. I am doing this to give people with similar
I think this list has outgrown my wallet
Explosions In The Sky
_The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place
_or whatever else is cheap
The Flaming Lips
_Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots
__Its intrestingm, it tells a story like a country song but throughout an album, it features a combination of rock and pop beats, but it doesn't seem to convey the emotion that other music does, who cares if it was designed with machine like precision it still seems cold in some ways, I really haven't taken a good listen so this may be premature.
Portishead
_Dummy
__Great Vocals; enjoyable, easy, mellow, dark, dynamic, gentle, sound, it can be appreciated in distracting situations. … -
Hedonistic Delights
14 May 2007, 09:43 by bittertwisted
I've made a working iTunes playlist of songs inspired by my current last.fm playlist and wanted to get suggestions for new/likeminded artists to check out.
On looking it over, I think I should add some Massive Attack, and before you suggest it, I have every single Stéphane Pompougnac album ever. Those 9 albums alone are the essential prototype for all other "Music to Chill/Fuck To" playlist! But here's the list thus far - looking forward to any replies!
