Douji Morita (森田童子, Morita Dōji, born January 15th, 1952 in Tokyo) is a Japanese singer-songwriter.
After a troubled time at school and inspired by the death of a friend, in 1975 she recorded her first LP, "Good Bye グットバイ". On December 25th 1983, she played her last live at Shinjuku Loft and the left music altogether in favour of being a homemaker.

  • When people ask me for heavy music, instead of recommending them your usual sludge metal or noise candidates, I always choose to tell them about "A Boy". If you're wondering just how much of a wreck an artist can be, I suggest you listening to it. Even before checking out the English translations to her songs (which btw are umph-eautiful), I knew that she would be the first musician whose sadness I could actually buy.

I checked out ebay before I asked and it did seem to be the case that everything was only on vinyl, but then when I googled specifically for CDs it seemed to be suggested that I might be able to find them on CD as well? It may have been the sites in question lumping vinyl and CD together though.
  • It will be a difficult task - most of the discography exists only on vinyl, including the reeditions. You can always check discogs for more information.
