Biography

T-ARA (Korean 티아라, often stylized as T♚ARA, pronounced as Tiara) is a 9 member girl group from South Korea formed in 2009 under Mnet’s Core Contents Media. They are currently promoting as a 7 member unit until their July comeback.

Originally, as five membered group, they released their first song 좋은 사람 (Good Person) for the Cinderella Man OST in April 2009. However, in June 2009 members Jiwon and Jiae left the group, delaying the original plans for debut. The next month, 전보람 (Boram), 소연 (Soyeon) and 큐리 (Qri) were added and T-ara released their debut single 거짓말 (Lies) on July 27, 2009.

On September 15, Soyeon, 은정 (Eunjung), 효민 (Hyomin) and 지연 (Jiyeon) collaborated with the boyband Supernova and released digital single TTL (Time To Love). Due to the success of the first song, the second version, which includes all the members from both groups, was released on October 9, called TTL Listen 2.

At the beginning of December, T-ara released their first full length album Absolute First Album. The album had two singles, Bo Peep Bo Peep and 처음처럼 (Like the First Time). It also contains re-recorded version of Good Person, Lies and both versions of TTL.

The repackaged version of album was released on March 3, 2010 under the name Breaking Heart with two new songs: 너 때문에 미쳐 (I Go Crazy Because of You) and 내가 너무 아파 (I’m Really Hurt).

In July 2010, new member 화영 (Hwayoung) was added to the group and the leader was changed from Eunjung to Broram.

The new T-ARA released their first mini album Temptastic at the beginning of the December 2010, a year after the Absolute First Album. The mini album had two lead singles: 왜 이러니 (Why Are You Being Like This?) and Yayaya.

In June 2011, T-ara released their second mini album John Travolta Wanna Be. It features the lead track Roly-Poly, new song 진짜 진짜 좋아해 (I Really Really Like You) and remixes of their Temptastic mini album.

In September, T-ara debuted in Japan with a remake of their hit single Bo Peep Bo Peep, followed by Yayaya, Roly Poly and Lovey Dovey, which will all appear on their first Japanese album “Jewelrey Box”, out in June.

CCM announced that they would be adding two brand new members to the group, making their official reveal in July for T-ara’s Korean comeback.
