童年印象 陳明章在1956年出生於台北北部、大屯山山腳下的著名溫泉區北投。在介紹陳明章的時候，陳明章自己的官方網站有這樣的描述：「每個人都有一個故鄉，有的在隨手可得的地方，有的在遙遠的他方，有的在心底深處，陳明章的，在北投」(陳明章音樂工作有限公司 nd)。 在那時候，由於日本人剛離開，國民黨的國族政策雖然已經開始展開，但是還依然在剛開始的階段，因此，1950年代可以算是台灣本土音樂戲劇逐漸輝煌的時候，根據陳明章自己的講法： 我小的時候，北投附近的市場，一年三百六十五天當中，大概有三百六十天在演戲。從小天天看北管、南管、歌仔戲、布袋戲，所以，我對本土文化的認識是從生活裡來的，根本不用學。特別是我媽媽常常哼一些台灣老歌給我們聽，這些老歌中的腔調虛字都是要口授才知道的，看譜根本不準。(引自陳德愉 1997)
