Biography

Japan (2004 – 2008)

美勇伝 (v-u-den; alternatively Biyuuden, viyuden, etc) was a Hello! Project unit, a Japanese pop group formed in August 2004. The group was lead by morning musume member Rika Ishikawa (石川梨華), as a new project to focus on after her Morning Musume graduation. She was joined by Hello! Project Egg Yui Okada (岡田唯) and audition winner Erika Miyoshi (三好絵梨香).

The name 美勇伝 is made up of the characters for beauty (bi; 美), bravery (yuu; 勇), and legend (den; 伝). It has been romanized many ways, but “v-u-den” eventually became the most constant.

The group released 10 singles, one studio album, and one compilation album. As a group, they also hosted a TV show in 2004 and had a radio show from 2005 to 2006. 美勇伝 was one of the most active groups under Hello! Project. They disbanded on the last day of their fifth concert tour, on June 29, 2008.

I love this group. Suite Room Number 1 is one of the best H!P albums. Then again, I love anything from H!P, tbh. [2]

v To me, H!P started going more downhill after 2005-2006. 2003-2004 there was still a lot of good stuff going on! Ayaya, W, Mini Moni, Country Musume (ni Fujimoto to Konno), awesome one-shot groups like Aa!, ZYX (errrr, sort of one-shot), Nochiura Natsumi, the start of Nacchi as a soloist, beginning of Berryz, Morning Musume, and as you mentioned, Maki. I still love H!P, but I know they used to be better :( graduating Elder Club was a mistake......and with Dream Morning Musume the only difference between former H!P (now Up Front) artists & current H!P artists is the boyfriend rule. Lame.

Post-2002, perhaps, yes! I'd agree with that. :) In 2003 and on the only thing I cared about was Maki Goto's solo stuff and a year later, this group.

I can't stand 続・美勇伝; their voices doesn't have harmony and they aren't half of awesome than the original unit was (I like Sayumi, though). I miss them so much, doesn anyone know if Erika is going to continue in the music scene? All I've heard is that she's appearing on plays or something.
