Yaguchi Mari was one of the second generation members of Morning Musume. She’s well-known for her “sexy beam” line from Koi no Dance Site, as well as for being the smallest member of the group at only 145 cm (4 ft. 9 in.) and 39 kg (86 lbs.). She has released three photobooks as well as an essay book.
She suddenly quit Morning Musume in April 2005 after the public discovered that she was in a relationship with a young actor, Oguri Shun, though they have since broken up.
She graduated from Hello!Project with the rest of Elder Club on March 31, 2009.
She has released one solo single since leaving Morning Musume and Hello! Project, “Seishun Boku”, which served as the opening theme song to hit anime “One Piece”. She has also participated in the revival group “Dream Morning Musume”, releasing an album and single, and also several concert tours. She continues to appear on television and at live events on behalf of Hello! Project. For several years she hosted a weekly entertainment news TV show called Yaguchi Hitori, and has starred in two daytime dramas.
On May 22, 2011 she married actor Nakamura Masaya. There is a height difference of 47cm (18.5”; 1’6”; one foot and a half) between the two.
