About this album

Avex Entertainment Corporation 14 tracks (55:25)
GUILTY is the ninth full-length studio album released by Hamasaki Ayumi. The album was released in two versions, CD+DVD and CD Only. First press copies came with a limited edition photobook. The CD+DVD version included all the music videos from the single glitter / fated to the digital single Together When…, including making-of’s.

It follows in the footsteps of the rock-influenced Secret, with a similar balance of rock and pop sounds. The album features four interlude tracks - highly unusual at the time when compared to her past releases. This was met with some contention from fans.

Hamasaki’s official website announced on March 17, 2008 that GUILTY will be released digitally in over 26 countries worldwide, a first for any Japanese artist. The album would be digitally released through the Apple iTunes stores in North America, Oceania, Europe, and Asian countries where the physical version of the album was already released. This is officially Hamasaki’s first release outside Asia.

The opening track Mirror was later released as Mirrorcle World, which was used to promote and commemorate her 10th Anniversary.

This album reached #2 on the Oricon charts and charted for 17 weeks. It sold 568,288 copies, becoming the #17 album of 2008.

"can't believe the shouts below me o_O" me neither, I tend to think they're just new fans who like showing their basic taste. Skip this album, it's easily her worst!

I really would love to know what happened between GUILTY and NEXT LEVEL that caused her to go so... insane. This is truly the last album that I felt was an "Ayumi Hamasaki" album, that she was all there for, and she was into (even though I know she said she wasn't feeling inspired with it). After this both her personality and music seemed to do a 180 shift and its like different person has been releasing under her name to me. Her songs don't have her traditional feeling to them, the production has become atrocious most of the time (especially blossom). I don't think we'll ever know, but I'd really love to know what happened between this gem and the rest of her career...

This was the last Ayu album I was able to listen for a month on repeat. After that I've barely kept going for 2 weeks with her other albums. *sad* Not that everything after this has been bad though. Rock'n'Roll Circus and Love songs kicks ass pretty well to me. FIVE wasn't all that bad. With NEXT LEVEL is that I got too many bad memories that makes it unable for me enjoy it as much as I should. :(
