(2000 – present)

Keita Tachibana, born in Fukuoka, Japan on 16 December 1985, is a Japanese musician. He is the lead singer of the boy band w-inds. and is also very involved with their dance sequences.

He got his big break when he won the 2000 ASAYAN Idol Contest, beating over 80,000 contestants for the top spot. He joined forces with two dancers from Sapporo, Ryuichi Ogata and Ryohei Chiba, to form their very popular J-Pop band, w-inds…

He is extremely famous for his extraordinary vocal range - he can hit notes 6-8 chords higher than the average male.

He also has a very large fan-base for his looks. In his spare time, he enjoys playing rounds of pool or soccer. He is also capable of playing various musical instruments; piano, guitar and bass guitar.

He has an older brother, Yuta Tachibana, and two younger sisters, Mai Tachibana and Mio Tachibana, who is currently a model and part of the group Soran Happies to Neko Hiroshi.

He is currently married to singer Autumn.

Keita Tachibana has now got his own solo career as well as being in a band. His debut single “Michishirube”, released on the 18th October 2006, and his solo album “Koe”, released on 29th November 2006, debuted at #3 and #5 on Oricon Chart on their first week release.

Although he is a solo artist now, he mentioned that w-inds. is a big part of him. It is most likely that w-inds. will not be disbanding.

    Keita playing Hiroyuki in Ohitorisama ^^ so cute , blond hair . He is Koike Teppei's bestfriend in the drama. any has seen it, ive gotten to epi 9, waiting for the last epi.

    They said they might be able to merge artists after they combine with MusicBrainz, but that's been said for ages now. I don't count on it happening anytime in the near future! But anyway... yeah, I'm aware of iTunes, etc., I'm just too partial to Winamp to give it up/download yet another program ^^; Although I must say that Winamp does support unicode now, only the last.fm plugin for it doesn't.

    The last.fm staff have said that the merging property was a part of the old system that just isn't available anymore. Chances are, they'll never be merged :( I wish it were still possible, though, since I use Winamp which doesn't allow unicode (so I'm stuck with Tachibana Keita).

    Only some Japanese artists have their pages merged. There is no way Last.fm can possibly make sure EVERY Japanese artist has their pages merged, let alone the rest of the artists in different languages w/ multiple pages. 上妻宏光, for example, has a problem w/ at least 5 pages for the same artist. It is just common sense; Last.fm doesn't work like magic, no matter how much we hope it to be :

    It's because people tag him differently .__.;; - Yes but other Japanese singers are merged to show Kanji no matter what (my favorite female singer Kosaka Riyu for example shows up as 小坂りゆ on last.fm even though I've had her tagged as both Kosaka Riyu and Riyu Kosaka at some point on iTunes)
