Best 2009 Releases
(aka My 35 favourite albums released last year)


Well 2009 is gone (and january and fabruary) and I consider that there were lots of good stuff released, and well this are my favourite ones, so this list is according to my musical taste, but you may find that some of the albums mentioned below are indeed great.

Although the music I listen is mainly METAL, you may find some other genres, so if you are a close minded metal head who doesn’t want to see Megadeth or Slayer sharing a blog entry with another non-metal band, get the hell out of here!!! ......if you are not close minded but still a metal-head, don’t worry, I’m not mentioning releases by shitty bands, such as Radiohead, Coldplay, Tokio Hotel or crappy “artists” like Justin Bieber

Los he visto dos veces en directo. El Mötorhead español arrasa con todo. Yosi increíble.

Son de Totana. ¡DE TOTANA, TRON! Mola ese rollo de rock sucio y callejero. Además, su último disco es bastante interesante.

36. Sigur Rós
He escuchado muy poco de ellos, muy poco. Pero recuerdo que me encantó. Recuerda a God Is An Astronaut. Quizá si los escuche con más detenimiento me gusten más y todo.

RISING SUN ROCK FESTIVAL 2008 in EZO

Well, it was even more awesome than I had expected, and easily worth the money, and the 20 hours I had to spend on trains.

Friday, Aug 15:
DOPING PANDA - don't normally listen to these guys, but they were a nice warmup for things to come, I guess.
The Pillows - very awesome, especially the 2nd half.
東京事変 - dangerously crowded, and a bit too short (only about 35 minutes), but too damn awesome. Easily the best moment of RSR. Been waiting for years for a chance to see Ringo live. <3
ミドリ - also super awesome, though I was a bit too tired to tackle the crowd, so saw it from a bit of a distance.

Saturday, Aug 16:
MONGOL800 - nothing special, kinda boring.
勝手にしやがれ - Jazz/ska type of music always works great live, and this is easily my favorite jazz band. Too cool. Probably my favorite performance at RSR, after 東京事変 and 椎名林檎, of course. :P
元ちとせ - quite nice, and very, very relaxing. The whole audience was sitting on the ground, and I saw quite a few people sleeping. …

Tatsuyuki Hiyamuta, alto sax, guitarist, and "agitate" man for Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, has announced his decision to leave the band.

Citing his nagging foot injury, which he received from a motorcycle accident in 1996 in Thailand, Hiyamuta has decided to leave the band in order to receive further treatment on his foot. He's had several large operations, but the constant touring and travelling has hindered his recovery.

Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra have posted that they will continue on with just 9 people, rather than trying to replace Hiyamuta...which I personally think is a wise decision, because it would be almost impossible to replace Hiyamuta, who is one of the original members of Skapara since the 1980s.

Below is his statement (in Japanese):

このたび、冷牟田竜之は2008年7月17日をもって、東京スカパラダイスオーケストラを脱退します。

96年にタイで起きたバイク事故で足を怪我して以来、さまざまな治療法を試しながら、スカパラの活動を続けてきました。

Cada 18 de Julio* se celebra, mundialmente, el dia (no oficial) del tiki.
Gente de todo el mundo se reune para celebrar un dia de diversión y fiesta y compartir sus buenas, buenas, buenas, vibraciones.

La celebración no tiene muchos códigos más allá de pasarlo bien y ser excelentes los unos con los otros.
