Miho Asahi (朝日美穂), born September 12, 1972, is a Japanese singer-songwriter from Osaka. She was brought up in Tokyo and Chiba and graduated from the Department of Literature at Waseda University. She began her career as a recording artist after receiving Excellence Award for her song “Shiawase wo Utaou” at the Rittor AXIA Artist Audition in 1995. The following year, she released her debut mini-album Apeiron, and in 1997 went major with Sony, subsequently releasing two albums during her short stay there. In 2002, she launched her own independent label, asahi-chikuon, where she currently remains.

Asahi’s style can be described as a rich blend of bossa nova, jazz and downtempo funk, infused in distorted and hypnotic arrangements which seamlessly combine electronic and acoustic elements. All this is accompanied by Asahi’s playful melodies and childlike vocals, which she uses in creative ways. Asahi possesses both pop sensibility and originality, appealing to casual listeners and those looking for something alternative from the norm.

Besides working as a solo artist, in 2006 she also participated in the unit mihomihomakoto with Miho Moribayashi (Hi-Posi) and Makoto Kawamoto.
