Biography

Cao Fang (曹方) is a Chinese singer/songwriter. Her former name is Cao Fang (曹芳) [note the change in the second character]. It was under this name that she released her debut Black Perfume (黑色香水), which was highly regarded by critics for melding Chinese pop sensibilities with alternative rock arrangements but had little commercial success. In 2005, Cao Fang changed the written form of her name and released the follow-up to her debut album entitled Meeting Me (遇见我). On this second album, her style became noticeably more mainstream. At the end of 2007, she released the EP Farther Than the Sky (比天空还远). Two years later, on November 9, 2009, she released her third album, Humming a Song as the Sun Sets (哼一首歌 等日落).
