Biography

Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan (2005 – present)

Mami Kawada (川田まみ), born on February 13, in Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan, is a rock and electronic/trance singer who is currently signed to Geneon Entertainment Inc. Her nickname is “Mami Mami (まみまみ)”. Her vocal talent was first discovered by Eiko Shimamiya (島みやえい子), who was her teacher at vocal school in Sapporo, Hokkaido. She was then introduced to “I’ve Sound,” a music production group. Where Kawada became attached to Shimamiya.

As a member of I’ve Sound, she performs soundtracks for some eroge. Mami was usually paired up with co-I’ve member Kotoko when making soundtracks for anime. Examples of these are Onegai Teacher, Onegai Twins, Starship Operators, Shakugan no Shana, Baldr Force EXE Resolution OVA, and Hayate no Gotoku wherein Kotoko will perform the opening theme while Mami will perform the ending theme or vice versa. In 2002, she and Shimamiya grouped themselves as the band Healing Leaf and performed some theme songs for visual novel games, but only one song was featured in the I’ve Girls Compilation, “Ame ni Utau Ballad” (雨に歌う譚詩曲).

Her debut single “Radiance”, released on February 23, 2005, was used as an opening theme for the anime Starship Operators. Her most successful single was “Joint,” released on October 31, 2007, and used as the first opening theme for the sequel of the anime series Shakugan no Shana, Shakugan no Shana II. In autumn 2008, Mami Kawada also established her official website together with her official fan club “M.A.L.L.”, which stands for “Mami Artist Lasting Live.”

It's been 2 years since STC release, and she already released 3 singles since then. She's also got 2 songs with no full version yet. That's why I believe we'll soon be hearing about a 5th album release containing "Borderland", "FIXED STAR", "Break a spell", "belief" and "Where I belong".

I learned about her with anime Index. Then I took a look at her other songs and just fell in love for her music! She became my favorite, since then!

"Break a spell" is boring. Her worst single to date.

Guys if you really love Mami Kawada, you'll listen to all of her songs ― anime, non-anime, or H-game songs. You need not to choose from her stuffs because all of her songs are really that good. (*^。^*)

@AfezeriaMiku nah, it isn't happy or proud, just amazed that i had the very same experience as well. i know those anime aren't bad, either. have the files but don't feel to watch it, mood matters~ And yes people, please hear the major albums. if you love her anime singles, i think you'll get hooked to one or more on the albums maybe, who knows.. just give a try.

Eh, her non anime songs are good too... It is sad that some people just love the song they heard on the opening of ending, and the rest of the discography they even not to hear (2)
