  • Top albums of 2008

    24 Feb 2009, 01:45 by Shorty5

I know I should have done this way back at the beginning of 2009 or at the end of 2008, but my life is just too crazy for that! I've hardly been home at all, so my 2008 album chart had to wait till mid February xD

Since I don't have the time to ramble on about the albums themselves, I'll just list them, write a sentence about them and put my favourite tracks (a maximum of 5 is allowed). The list isn't in any order due to the major amount of brilliant albums released last year (seriously 2008 was the best year for music in YEARS).

    Without any further ado...

BEST ALBUMS OF 2008 ACCORDING TO MEGAN

Girls Aloud - Out Of Control

GA's second best album to date (after Chemistry). Contains one of my all time fave GA tracks in Untouchable.

Favourite tracks: Untouchable, Miss You Bow Wow, Revolution In The Head, Turn to Stone, Rolling Back The Rivers In Time

    Sugababes - Catfights & Spotlights

A much better album then Change. A return to the Babes of Taller In More Ways.

If Hikki is a J-pop artist of consistency, Namie Amuro is one of reinvention. Having been in the J-pop industry for 13 years, her style has completely changed from the heavy dance sounds produced by Tetsuya Komuro to a more hip-hop, R&B style that's all her own. For this entry, I'm gonna stick to most of her post-STYLE stuff, since that's what I like better.

I first started listening to Namie Amuro after hearing a lot about her history as one of the first J-pop idols, before falling out of popularity with the emergence of Ayumi Hamasaki and Utada Hikaru. Having gotten tired of Ayumi's constant lalalala's at the end of all her songs and impatient at Hikki's infrequent releases, I decided to investigate.

    QUEEN OF HIP-POP
So, I tried out her album Queen of Hip-Pop to get a sense of what her style was. I was skeptical of a Japanese artist utilizing a hip-hop, R&B approach. However, I was surprised at how well the album worked. …
