HEART STATION is the fifth Japanese studio album (seventh overall) by 宇多田ヒカル (Utada Hikaru). It was released on March 19, 2008.

HEART STATION sold 480,081 copies in its first week, collecting the lowest first week sales in Utada’s career. However, it was still certified million by the RIAJ for shipments of 1 million copies in Japan, and stayed in the Oricon top 10 for 11 consecutive weeks, becoming her most successful studio album in terms of worldwide sales since the DEEP RIVER in 2002. It also managed to outsell her previous album, ULTRA BLUE, by over 100,000 copies, and became the 271st best-selling album of all time in Japan.

On May 13, 2008, nearly two months after its release, Barks.jp reported that the digital sales of all songs on the album had surpassed 15 million downloads, and was the most downloaded album in Japan during 2008. The album also ranked as the 5th best-selling album of 2008, and best-selling studio album, as all the other albums topping the charts were compilation albums.

HEART STATION was an extremely strong digital seller, becoming the #1 album of 2008 on iTunes Japan with 4 singles in the Top 100 songs by the end of the year and 4 singles in the Top 10 songs in its debut week.

    Her best album, personally. Ultra Blue felt a tad too slick for me, whereas on HS, Hikki kind of let her hair down and let the hooks, which are smarter, self-referential and more sinuous here, slink all the way through. Only pockmark there is must be the inclusion of ぼくはくま; otherwise, not even her cracked voice can distract from the quality of the music, or that the first half are the era's obvious string of singles.

    Whaaat? Definitely NOT a 10/10 album. It does have some pretty good songs (Fight the Blues, BW, Kiss & Cry) but it's so incoherent and frankly, just LAZY: including two versions of Flavor of Life was unnecessary, the abrupt ending of Take 5 and ぼくはくま after it totally kills the momentum (plus it's a stupid children's song and it's so out of place on the album it's not even funny). "HEART STATION" (song) has to be her dullest single ever and I find most of the songs quite uninteresting, especially in the second half of the album... It's not even a great album, let alone a masterpiece, ULTRA BLUE was one of my favorite pop albums of the decade but this album doesn't even hold a candle to it.
