Soundtrack Favoriten
28 Aug 2008, 09:46 by Lord_Bumblebee
Mario, etc) ruft Erinnerungen an alte Zeiten wach. :)
Favoriten Spiele-Soundtracks

PLAY! A Video Game Symphony Concert in Prague

Wed 23 Apr – PLAY! A Video Game Symphony "Recording Concert"
http://img99.imageshack.us/img99/2223/5405658ip6.jpg
Wednesday April 23, 2008 - the day that will go down in history as the day PLAY! A Video Game Symphony blessed this little backwater country in the heart of Europe with it's presence. It took a few days for the whole experience to soak in but here I am with my random thoughts on this fantastic evening.
Two weeks prior to the concert one of my friends stumbled upon an annoucement on a game site saying PLAY! would be performing in the famous Dvořák Hall of the Rudolfinum here in my hometown and that they'd be recording the whole thing for a CD / DVD release for the first time. The concert was to be performed by the Czech Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and Kuehn's mixed choir and conducted by Grammy Award-winning artist Arnie Roth. I knew immediately that I had to be there.

Video Game Soundtracks
27 Jan 2008, 15:59 by maz35
While it doesn't quite show in my charts I have always loved video game soundtracks, one of the coolest things about them is they will get me listening to things I'd never think to check out otherwise. Anyway in tribute to them I feel like geeking out and writing a journal about some of my fave tracks that no one will read.
Metal gear Solid 3
Snake Eater - Cynthia Harrell
Konami decide to send MGS back to the sixties, so what they do? Why they only give it a very awesome Bond-esk theme. Even if I do still think Snake eater was an absolutely dreadful sub-title.

Killer 7
Rave On - Masafumi Takada
This is nothing like what I'd normally listen to. My mind struggles to cope with the fact I like a track entitled "Rave On" but no I do. In the game I hung around in the room where it played just to listen.

2007 IN MUZAK: Yet Another Retrospective
29 Dec 2007, 16:51 by Gnac
This is now a regular feature! The last one was "Another Retrospective" (http://www.last.fm/user/Gnac/journal/2006/12/31/302256/).
This one has had more effort put in.

Duntisbourne Abbots Soulmate Devastation Technique
Ah yes, what better way to start a rundown of this year's notable albums than with a disappointment. Apparently this is too dark for me. It's not boring at all, no. Each track is totally unique, fresh and exciting.
I can't even pick out a single standout track here, so let's leave it at that.
Standout tracks: feh.
Aesop Rock
None Shall Pass
Ace is one of the few Hip-hop artists keeping the genre alive for me, which is some feat considering that it died over a decade ago. I was going to have a segue here about how the video for Coffee ties in well with this, but actually, it doesn't. But it is one of the many fine tracks on offer here! 39 Thieves reminds me of how much fellow Def Jux stablemate Mr. Lif needs to get back on track.

Tasty
27 Apr 2007, 17:24 by DaveFishBulb
So I guess I score 114/160 for having extensive taste.
Get your own taste results here.
"The script lists the users top 20 overall artists and lists the 8 most similar artists to each one, then delete's any repeated artists.
The idea is to see how varied your taste is, a score of 9 is extremely unvaried while 160 represents an extremely varied one."
So heres mine:
1: Fear Factory
2: Machine Head
3: Sepultura
4: Soulfly
5: Static-X
6: Chimaira
7: In Flames
8: Pantera

Surprise Favourite
19 Sep 2006, 13:32 by tunaranch
Mylo's Destroy Rock And Roll didn't really click with me the first few times I heard it. I didn't really think too much of the title track, and it just fell by the wayside.
Then, Emotion 98.6 just came up in rotation, and I can't remember ever falling in love with a track so fast.
It's the sort of music that reminds me of the good ol' 16 bit days... this song would feel right at home as the ending credits roll for a Genesis game. The arrangement and melodies are just beautiful, it's just a nice track to listen to when you feel like sticking your head on the clouds. It's a head bopping, toe tapping, ease off the throttle and just cruise along kind of song.
Guilty Of Love is also a somewhat similar track, with the chorus being very reminiscent of the work of Yuzo Koshiro. -
Keeping up with the Joneses
31 Jul 2006, 20:58 by gooneruk
Take your top 6 neighbors and each of their 3 top artists, then say where on your artists list they rank:
identitycrisisuk
1. Ghostface (79) - Not bad, this guy really seems to like him though. I prefer Wu-Tang Clan as a whole, rather than their solo projects
2. Yuzo Koshiro (N/A) - Never heard of him. Apparently he does music for video games, which doesn't exactly add to the appeal
3. Common (N/A) - At least I know who Common is. I like that kind of hip-hop, like Talib Kweli and so on.
Other Notables: DJ Shadow, Mobb Deep
bigsmoke
1. Gorillaz (64) - Like it, like it.
2. Eminem (14) - I think Eminem's so high up on my list because I have just about every track he's ever done, so it comes up quite often on random play.
3. The Fugees (127) - Surprisingly low for me. Really looking forward to the new album, because Take It Easy is a wicked tune.
Other Notables: Rammstein, Air, Leftfield
r13
1. Massive Attack (90) - Seems this guy is into his chillout and trip-hop, which is fine by me!
