Biography

Japan (2001 – present)

ルルティア (Rurutia) is a female Japanese and . Most of her music can be described as , and . She began her career in 2001 with the release of ‘Itoshigo yo’ with the label Toshiba-EMI. Due to the lack of freedom RURUTIA left Toshiba-EMI and signed over to the less known label, Phoerix Records, in mid-2005.

RURUTIA is an intensely private artist; most aspects of her life - such as her age and her real name - are not known to the public. This fact, added to her whispered vocals, creates a unique and mysterious atmosphere around her. Before the record change, RURUTIA also did not appear in public due to her contract. Since then, RURUTIA has made her first public appearance to promote her album, ‘Chorion.’

Her pseudonym, Rurutia, comes from the word ‘Rorotea,’ meaning ‘blissful rain’ in Tahitian.

Are Meme, Promised Land, Lost Butterfly, Primary, and Spinel official titles? They are written in katakana on her web site...

I just noticed I got an autograph with my NODE from R order though I ordered from CDJapan. I literally screamed and jumped up and down.

Has anyone ordered NODE from her website and got her autograph? I'm dying to see her signature. I would've ordered from her website had I known SHE SENT AN AUTOGRAPH ALONG T_T

I think the new album is quite good and not that different from her previous stuff. There's just one really horrible song called Spectrum but it's an exception.

Is it just me, or Rurutia really likes the AFCG chord progression? What's more amazing, she actually manages to make fully AFCG-based songs sound good. :C

Keep on listening. The ballads are slightly starting to grow on me, especially Hitotsubu no Tomoshibi and I Keep on Lovin' you. It's certainly not her most inspired album, but about half of it is still pleasant.

This new album shows a new RURUTIA with sounds more comercial and mainstream. I am a admiarateur since the beginning, and I know perfectly her discography. With NODE from R, I found not what I like about RURUTIA. For me, this is her worst album. http://www.rurutia-fr.com/

Spectral kinda reminds me of Signal. I like them, but not as much as Abintra or Pavanne.

and @harufi: "She has nice stuff to just switch off and relax to, but theres nothing really memorable." Hallelujah, Elements, Abintra, Itoshigo yo, The Name of Anger, just to name a few.

Actually, I rather enjoy it when artists I like try something different -providing it's good, goes without saying. That's why Hallelujah is still one of my favorites: the contrast between Rurutia's frail vocals and the cinematic strength of symphonic metal was pretty much intense, so to say, emphasizing the dark side of the lyrics (she's still a great songwriter). That's precisely what I like about her: that intense, haunting, emotional feel that's missing on NODE from R. The Name of Anger is awesome, but the rest clearly doesn't live up to what we should expect from her. And tbh, autotune sucks.

"Spectrum" is my favorite song on the album, and I don't think the music is radically different from anything she would normally do. As I said earlier, the album is fresh, but the sound is distinctly RURUTIA.
