Kato Kazuki and Date Koji have formed a new musical unit together, called JOKER (ジョーカー). They released their debut single “No.1” on December 7th, 2011.
Kato and Date have known each other for years, since they both appeared together in the “Prince of Tennis” musicals.
Out of all the suggestions for the unit’s name, they and the staff decided on JOKER. They explained, “We want to aim to be like a trump card that will throw the Japanese music industry into chaos.” JOKER’s musical style is described as “solid and aggressive” and as being a “manly sound” that “evokes good old Japanese rock.”
They released their first mini-album “JOKER” on May 2nd, 2012.
