19,999 Michael Andrews-Mad World Hearing this cover for the first time really brought something out of me. I'd already had a history with this song, knowing the original so many years prior. This time, well, now it's different. I can now empathize as a father and as a teacher as well, so it breaks my heart nearly every time. I've failed here, and there and there as well. I am broken. This is a reminder of why I tell my students to speak the language of love and not to judge anyone. this song is unfair, too, because it speaks the truth and sometimes I just don't want to hear it.

19,998 Derek Webb-A New Law How pathetic am I? "Don't teach me about truth and beauty/ Just label my music." I didn't need a slap in the face right now. I will say that this is a great album and I am actually grateful that I have it.

It's been a long time since I scored 3% on this thing, and I've become substantially more into mainstream music. I'm curious just how much, so here goes. I've tweaked the formula to account for my top twenty instead of ten, since that makes far more sense.

Go through your top 20 artists and add up the total number of listeners. Divide that number by 20; this is the average number of listeners for your top ten. Now divide the average by the number of Radiohead fans (Radiohead is the artist with the most listeners). Multiply the result by 100--that is your "mainstream percentage".

First off, I was first introduced to japanese music through this "bento beatbox" thing comcast had in one of its' many On Demand sections. The section was for some anime channel I didn't actually have. They always had four music videos up of what was popular in japan at the moment. The first video I saw was Kokoro Odoru, and it left me cracking up. Cause seriously, that video was weird. But after a while that song really caught on with me haha. It was actually pretty good. Second song was The Great Amateurhythm, which made me laugh as well because it was such a transition from nobodyknows+. There's a few in there I missed and I STILL don't remember, like these two guys on some sort of japanese guitar thing and it sounded REALLY cool. Man, I wish i could remember what they were called. But anyway, through that bento beatbox thing I got pretty addicted to TM Revolution and it got my mom completely addicted to Soul'd Out, weirdly enough. …
