Biography
Carmen Maki (カルメン・マキ, born Maki Annette Lovelace on May 18, 1951 to an American father and a Japanese mother) is a Japanese singer who has worked in several genres. Her career began in the late 1960s when she recorded a few folk and blues records, primarily as a part of the band Carmen Maki & Blues Creation, but also as a solo artist. In the 1970s, she formed a rock band called Carmen Maki & OZ. Later she recorded a solo heavy metal album in 1979, in collaboration with the drummer Carmine Appice. She left music in 1984 due to health problems. After ten years of absence, she returned to music again in 1993.
