Biography

たま (TAMA) is a japanese avant-garde folk group.

Members:
知久寿焼 (Chiku Toshiaki): guitar, mandolin, ukelele, harmonica
石川浩司 (Ishikawa Kouji): percussion, recorder, organ
滝本晃司 (Takimoto Kouji): bass, guitar, piano, pianica

ex-member:
柳原幼一郎 (Yanagihara Youichiro): guitar, accordion, piano, organ

They formed in 1984 and by 1986 they were signed to the famous indies label Nagomu Records.
They became famous for their creative and quirky music and lyrics, and in 1990 was their major debut in Axec.
Yanagihara left in 1995 but they continued together, mixing their style with new technology, adding electronic elements to their music.
Tama stopped activities in 2003 and the members continued with different projects, but in 1998 they promised their fans a concert in 10 years, so in August 8th, 2008 they did a live again, which was sold out within 5 minuntes the tickets went on sale.
