Purgen (Пурген) is a hardcore punk group from Moscow, Russia. Formed in 1989 by their frontman Ruslan and his friend Chikatilo. First two years the band’s name was Lenin-Samotuik (Lenin Dildo).

First album as the Purgen name was ‘’Vse Gosudarstva – Konclagerja (All the States-Concentration Camps’’ which released in 1992.Year after, they released ‘’Transplantacija Mirovozzrenija (Transplantation of Attitude)’‘
By that first albums they formed their recognizable style. Songs are fast and noisy and lyrics are provocative; but on that albums, the quality of sound wasn’t the best.

1994. was recorded and re-published LP ‘’Transplantacija Mirovozzrenija (Transplantation of Attitude)’’ and after that, the band broke up because of poorness. Most of the gigs they were playing were not bringing them any income but travel costs, and life is expensive…

Ruslan(frontman) in 1995. meets two brothers Gnom and Panamo and invites them to the bend. They released ‘’Radiacionnaja Aktivnost iz Musornogo Baka (Radioactivity From the Rubbish Container’’ and on that album you can recognize that their sound gets more quality and their attidute is more agressive than it was till then.

In 1997. with help of the bassist from german bend Grune Noise, Purgen releases ‘’Filosofija Urbanisticeskogo Bezvremenija (Philosophy of Urban Hard Times)’‘
Thanks to that album, they were noticed by publishing house Hobgoblin Records.
With their help, the band became more popular, the concerts were filled by the punkers.
