Mikael Tariverdiev (Микаэл Таривердиев) was a Soviet composer best known as the author of more than 130 soundtracks, including the scores of such notable USSR films as “Seventeen Moments of Spring”, “The Irony of Fate”.

Many professional musicians describe his music as very distinct and instantly recognizable. Tariverdiev often, but not always, employed a very academic approach in his compositions, which was well suited for his scores for cinema, the theater, and opera; however, he also composed many songs in the “romance” genre, usually also for films. Original arrangements featuring prominent vocals are usual in Tariverdiev’s work. The composer’s work evolved notably over the years.
