The forming of the neofolk/ambient project Liholesie (Лихолесье) from Novosibirsk, Russia is lost in a fog of time and even the only member of Liholesie, Sever, could not tell you the exact date.
The first demo “The Eternal Call” was published in 2002 with a small circulation, though it received good response in the press.
In the spring of 2004 the Ural label Stygian Crypt published debut Liholesie album “Primeval Rotation (Izvechnoe Kolovrashenie)”, devoted to year, a wheel of time, sacrament of death and birth, an ascention and decline.
In the spring of 2005 the same label published “Vast Homeland (Rodnie Prostori)”.
In 2007, on the same label again, a new Liholesie album “Visions (Videniya)” was published. Melodies, tools used, and the sound itself vary… But as always, like with all past material the basis of Liholesie is the Nature, the Heritage and Search.
