Laskoviy Mai (Russian: Ласковый май) is a legendary Soviet prefab boy group, from Moscow, that toured the Soviet Union with a number of vocalists, most notably Yuri Shatunov (Russian: Юрий Шатунов).
History
Laskoviy Mai is a well-known group in the history of Soviet pop and disco. The group was created in the middle of 1980s, Sergei Kuznetsov decided to create a group of Musicians with orphan children from an orphanage in Orenburg. The group’s first album became legendary in the history of the Soviet pop. The style of group is simple; it is a mix of the Western disco made on the synthesizer with plain lyrics and sung with a jazzy voice. The style of this group was revived by the group Ruki Vverh. Group Vesyolye Rebyata had a hit “Rozoviy Rozy”, but even it could not exceed the popularity of the hit “Belye Rozy” of group Laskoviy Mai. The popularity of this group was similar to the popularity of The Beatles in the Soviet Union at the time. Also, the group has influenced many DJs. The group has released many albums.
