There are several bands called (the) User.

(including square brackets) are Thomas McIntosh and Emmanuel Madan, the duo famous for their dot matrix printers symphonies and the year-long interactive sonic installation in an abandoned silo (“Abandon”). Official site is theuser.org.

Formed one morning over breakfast, inhabits the trailing edge of technology. This vantage point affords an excellent view of technology from behind. Exploring the more prosaic side of the human condition, has chosen ambient noise, the by-product of existence, as the subject of its current work. Sifting a few pertinent grains from the beach of noise is ‘s self-imposed and inexplicable task.

takes its name from a term employed by our technocratic society, especially in design-related fields such as engineering, architecture and software development. The term ‘user’ objectifies and reduces individuality to an abstract and generic ideal. This reduction is employed wherever abstract rational methodology is applied to situations involving real people. Once this reduction is made, it becomes much easier to treat the faceless, formless ‘user’ in an inhuman fashion. In our society we employ the impersonal term ‘user’ to justify the infliction of neon lighting, plastic cutlery and Muzak on a huge majority of our population.

    It used to scrobble as [the User]. Hadn't listened to them for a while now though but this time it didn't work. There's a great difference between the nads though. And moderators of last.fm has previously approved to this spelling. I don't know why they changed? Or maybe the programmers changed the audioscrobbler and never bothered to consult the moderators? Sounds very likely.

    where can i find proof that tracknames (Login, etc) are real? Neither discogs nor music brainz (which i don't like) don't feature these titles. Honestly, I'd prefer if these tracks were untitled. Fucking Neophyte, if this is a real name, kind of spoils it for me.
