A compilation of 2011 albums that made a difference in my life

After a proper sit-down-shut-up-and-listen session I came to a valid conclusion on what albums I should list here. This 25 album list consists of the albums that were produced in 2011 and were important to me in a strong manner. The list does not show them in an order from the best to worst because in my opinion a comparison between various genres of music is just impossible. Instead it shows them in an order on how much impact they had on my life - how they shaped my past year of 2011.

58-ish Reviews For 2011.

These are my write-ups for releases I have enjoyed above and beyond. About the reviews; it's my first attempt to write in this way. I started the year with a jokey sort of tone but as the list got bigger I started being more responsible with my formality. Whether or not people agree with my list or comments, I'm sure we can all agree this has been an absolutely amazing year! (UPDATE 03.01.2012) I have added some albums to the list which I haven't reviewed yet just to try reign in a bit of closure on the year.

But enough of the past, let's talk about 2011!

10th Place: Autumn - Cold Comfort
progressive rock, atmospheric rock

Autumn's last album, Altitude, featured a new vocalist and a more melodic approach. It was incredibly catchy. This album is not. This album takes a lot of listens to get into, and it is yet another showcase for Marjan's vocal talents. Which isn't at all a complaint considering she has a really lovely voice.
Best Track: Cold Comfort

9th Place: Illuminatus - Glasnost

I saw this band at Bloodstock festival in the UK in about 2005, and I remember really enjoying their music but also totally forgetting to look them up. So imagine my surprise when, just a few short years later, their album appears in my recommendations list, and turns out to be great, too. …
