#poundsign# is an indiepop quartet from San Francisco, consisting of: Stephen Vesecky (vocals, guitar, organ, synthesizer, sitar), Alicia Vanden Heuvel (vocals, guitar, bass, synthesizer), Becky Barron (drums, vocals, guitar), and Jaime Knight (bass, vocals, guitar). The band formed in 1993 when three of the band members met at UC Santa Cruz. Over the years, #poundsign# has developed their own brand of synth and guitar pop, somewhat remniscent of New Order and the Smiths, but with their personal DIY touch. Notable releases are the albums “Wavelength” (1998) and “Underneath The Marquee” (2001), as well as a number of 7”, splits, and appearances on compilations.

Alicia Vanden Heuvel is also a member of The Aislers Set, Stephen Vesecky now leads Strega, and Becky Barron is a member of Scrabbel.

Just as there's a flutter of joy in the heart at finding something perfect and so obviously rightly loved by many, it never fails tear a peace off when something so obviously brilliant languishes just enough out of sight and sound that it doesn't get what it truly merits. Great fucking band. heartu, #poundsign#.

Why is it and has it been so frikin hard to get albums from these people? Are they intentionally withholding or is it just bad distribution.
