Starting from very humble beginnings in the rural woods of Okanogan County, Eastern Washington State, Sick Donkey Records co-owner BlueJay (aka DJ Sticky) and other founding label members; Huckleberry, and Essential I have been collaborating for the last five years. The record label’s first official release was Jahson Ites album, Forward Outta Babylon, featuring Essential I, DJ Sticky, and Adrian Xavier. Since then, the Sick Donkey Records Conscious Music Showcase continues to tour as a unit with Jahson Ites, Essential I and DJ Sticky. The second release from SDR was Essential I’s debut album FreeDem SoulJah an 18 track album with a blend of Reggae / Dancehall & Hip-Hop featuring Promoe (of LoopTroop Rockers - Sweden) as well as the other Sick Donkey Records label mates. Over the past few years, the label has expanded out to work with artists and producers globally with talents from nearly 20 different nations. In 2009, Sick Donkey Records has released its third full-length CD, the 19 track various artists compilation, Standing Firm Riddim. The compilation features the Sick Donkey Records stable artists, Jahson Ites, Huckleberry, and Essential I and a full array of top global Reggae artists.
