redstarcommunity was founded in autumn 2001 by Emil Johansson and Jonas Ottosson. initially it was meant to be a cultural and political forum but soon it took the form of a record label. the first release was Sanchez is driven by demons untitled debut ep. limited to 100 numbered copies it sold out quite fast and we realized the possibilities of having our own independent record label. over the years several releases have followed, the label has grown and at this moment includes not only Sanchez is driven by demons but also daughters of a righteous riot, Tyrone Miller, come on live and the late virginia summers. we are especially proud of tlvs wish to release their brilliantly beautiful self-titled record at rsc. in the beginning, our small-scaled, net based activities was an attempt to spread our recordings that we knew otherwise never were going to reach out to any wider range of people. since then our aims have grown and the release of tlvs is a promising sign of the capabilities of a growing movement of independently recorded and distributed music. rsc welcomes any band wanting to follow tlvs’ lead and release their music at this site. we will also try to help and guide people who wants to start their own net based, independent record label by sharing the experiences these years have given us.

the rsc-activities have mostly been centered around do it yourself-recordings that we’ve made available for free through this site. however, although its a small-scaled operation were depending on some source of income.
