Volcano (2)
Profile: 1996: Founded by Kevin Czinger after purchasing Zoo Entertainment.

Mid 1997: The “Zoo Entertainment” name ceases to be used.

October 1997: Czinger merges Volcano with Dallas Austin’s Rowdy Records to become Freeworld Entertainment.

March 1998: After being plagued with financial troubles as Freeworld, the label is purchased by the Zomba Label Group and subsequently renamed back Volcano Entertainment.

December 2000: Volcano acquires the assets of Capricorn Records which had recently shut down following a reemergence in the early nineties.

Volcano has reissued many of the releases originally found on Zoo Entertainment, Capricorn Records and Scotti Bros. Records. These releases should not have release dates before 1996, and most likely were reissued later in the nineties.

North American reissues of Zoo Entertainment releases vary from approximately 1998-2001.
North American reissues of Capricorn Records releases are almost all exclusively 2001.
North American reissues of Scotti Bros. Records releases are almost all exclusively 1998.
Sublabels: Scotti Bros. Records, Zoo Entertainment
Parent Label: Zomba Records

An amazing independent label with bands to boast about. One, being tool…ahhh! If I were to conform to the industries flock this would be my first choice. Too bad i’m so anti-industry.
