Trochlear Recordings Limited (also known as “Trochlear Rex” or “The T.Rex DigiLab”) grew out of the now defunct Mication Records and ECR Recordings. It was founded by Jared Newby in October of 2005. The first public releases from the label went online via KarmaDownload on January 26, 2006: Flex Louder, Conversation Pieces EP, IO Limiters, Egypse / Tecknology and Beaute par le Chaos. Trochlear producer San Jaya Prime was brought on as co-owner in spring of 2006.

From summer 2006 until summer’s end in 2007, the label lost distribution when KarmaDownload went out of business, lost licensing when Raw42 UK changed ownership and lost the main website during a break up between Trochlear producers Jared Newby and John Perez (the collaborators behind the Symbis project). In September of 2007, Jared Newby died of heart failure.

Jaya brought on Trochlear producer HALUSIN8 as co-owner. Together, they salvaged the remaining songs for the label and re-structured it as a netlabel. In the fall of 2008, the label re-launched with a new website and distribution structure. A memorial was erected for Trochlear founder Jared Newby, who’s music was included in the re-launch of the label with permission from his mother and father.

The T.Rex DigiLab focuses almost entirely on electronic music, although many different genres within electronica are represented by the various artists and aliases. The most active current artist is San Jaya Prime.
