TIp World closed in the UK. It has resurfaced in Spain under the original name of Tip Records. Tip are one of the most important pioneering labels of the Psy Trance sound or Goa Trance as it was at one time known. They are also one of the most recognisable with their famous “shiva” face logo that has appeared on many compilation albums in a continuing colour series. The logo also adorned a plethora of t-shirts, stickers, bags, flyers and posters. Tip was originally the band “The Infinity Project” which consisted of Raja Ram and Graham Wood and together with Raja Ram´s daughter Sastra they put on some legendary parties from 1989 onwards which were the first of their type in the UK. Parties inspired by trips to Goa (where Raja ram lived in the winter). It was I suppose similar to what happened in 87 and 88 with people like Ian St Paul, Paul Oakenfold and Danny Rampling coming back home from Ibiza and putting on Ibiza style nights. Ian St Paul who had been the man behind 2 of the most legendary Balearic nights, “Future” and “Spectrum” was also important in the early Goa scene having been a label manager of both Dragonfly and Tip Records. Richard Bloor became Ian´s right hand man and eventually took over as manager and also opened sister labels 10 Kilo and Surround Sounds that released Breaks/electro/techhouse and prog/tribal house respectively.

one of the best psy labels i can think of... liked the way they avoided faloling into just mere generic goa, tended to set standards well after, as far as i know, they went down tubes... still got m,ost of their stiff. and still gets good play at parties i do
